When I just woke up from my usual Sunday afternoon nap after some wonderful church meetings today, I spotted a little creature next to my bed. Hello, pillbug. I'd much rather be greeted by a cute little rolly-polly than the frequent visitors we normally have (think hairy brown spider, ant, centipede). Those normally die a quick death of smashing and squishing, which is why I literally keep a roll of toilet paper next to my bed.
You can imagine my pleasure at an intruder that's actually a cute thing and doesn't transform me into a crazy killer. I didn't even reach for the shoe or toilet paper as I bent down to grab it...s lifeless body. Nice. A dead pillbug. Its stiff body certainly wasn't cute anymore. It's a good thing I'm not superstitious because I'm sure waking up to find a dead animal at your bedside isn't a good omen. Even so, I'll take a dead roly poly over a lot of other creatures that want to share my abode with me.
On to another week!
